I took me a bit to get back into the Holiday tunes this year than in previous years. But man, once I did, I was IN IT. I listen to it all day at work, and if I had my choice, would also listen to it in the car. I got to do it once but I don't think Gspice was a fan. For him, I just put Frozen II on instead :)
My absolute favorite song for this year is a bit curious. It's celebrated by many but it's got some interesting lyrics. That said, Pentatonix really outdid themselves back when they released this a few years ago.
My other favorite is a throwback to 2014! I may have heard this before but am LOVING it this year. It is so good!
Here are some of the other songs from their Best of Pentatonix Christmas that I've really enjoyed!
This last one isn't my favorite but the boys have really enjoyed the cartoon Grinch this year so this is for them!
Be sure to check back for more Holiday Cheer posts this year! We should have about 6-7 if all goes well!
Have you seen the Greatest Showman yet? If not, please do yourself a favor and rent it for your viewing pleasure. Back in July, I jumped on the Greatest Showman train myself and have been completely enamored with the music ever since. I love, love, love nearly all of the soundtrack and have been listening to it on repeat for the last six months.
I have even come around to the songs that I didn't really care for in the beginning. This was partially because the boys ask me to play Rewrite the Stars (which of course, I love!) and the one with the pony, which is Come Alive, the song I didn't really care for. Well, of course now I do! It is absolutely darling to hear them sing parts of the songs!
And bless my wild boys' sweet little hearts, they even ask me to sing. Imagine my entire heart melting and me squeezing them with the biggest bear hugs. For years they haven't wanted me to sing. Sure, it bruised my ego a bit but I would almost always stop singing if they asked. Like the Moana soundtrack - I LOVE it but they never wanted to hear me sing it. I think all that changed when they heard me belt out Let It Go from Frozen earlier this year. Since then, I've been allowed to sing. And it truly melts my heart when a song comes on that I'm not currently singing, they ask me to start. So sweet!!
Anyhoo, the first song I fell for was Never Enough. I heard it first during the movie and I was beyond smitten. If ever this is made into a musical, I will try out with this song. I feel that I should also say here that I am now, very recently, smitten with Tightrope, which was one of the songs I never really cared for. However, when I belt that song, I feel that this one fits my voice even better than Never Enough. Hmmm...maybe I could try out with both songs!
I'll keep this short and sweet because really, you just need to go watch the movie if you haven't already. And also, go get the soundtrack. It's pretty amazing.
Also, picture me running on the treadmill listening to this song and having the same reactions as the vocal coach in the video below....yes, I probably looked a bit awkward.
It has been far too long since I created a music video post. I do these mainly for myself because I have a terrible memory. I love certain songs and when the next set of songs come out, I forget about the ones I liked. It's a vicious cycle, people. This helps me keep track of the ones I love! I'll admit right now that some are downright ridiculous, but that might be why I like them!
This video freaks me out but I love the song. What can you do?
Again, this video? What the heck! I do love Dolla $ign, though :)
Won't ever watch Suicide Squad, but this video is semi-okay.
This video is a hard no, but I do love the song. Very much.
Gspice and I have a new favorite song! Whenever this plays on the radio, the volume goes up and we start belting out the lyrics. We've played it for the boys too - Owen wiggles and giggles and Jack smiles up a storm!
If you follow me on Instagram then you know I don't have anything out for Christmas. The only thing you could remotely call "holiday decor" is the adorable penguin throw I personally use when I sleep.
To prove that I'm not a total Grinch, I decided to spread a little holiday cheer on the blog. You'll see a few different posts over the next few days that I hope will spread some joy during such a lovely time of year!
My latest Christmas song obsession is most definitely Pentatonix. When no one else is around, I play this song OVER and OVER (and over again)!
Here are some others I've been listening to a lot these days :)
There are two stations I listen to quite frequently on Pandora. By frequently, I mean like 99.9% of the time. Cassadee Pope and 3Oh!3. One is reserved for work and the other at home. You guess which is which. :)
On the one reserved for work, I came across a new artist that I have grown to love. Kacey Musgraves has one song out that is so adorably perfect. If I had to sing a karaoke song in a bar or in front of a crowd, this would be it.
I'm totally channeling my middle-schooler self with this post and sharing some videos from a cutie named Austin Mahone. I'm sure me as a teenager would have had a total crush on this kid! Sorry Gspice. Don't worry though. These videos just make my current self laugh. Out loud.
Owen and I shared something pretty special tonight. Well, maybe just me but I didn't make him cry. I promise.
I played and sang to him some of my favorite Sara Bareilles songs! I'm happy to report that, yes, there were no tears. Only giggling, a little bit of squealing and lots of kicking.
I hoped from the moment she won the Voice that I wouldn't forget about her before her music came out. Luckily for me, I didn't need to worry. This Cassadee Pope song has already hit the radio!
I know, it's been a while since my last post. Let's be real, I've been lazy. Sorry! And honestly, I'm still feeling lazy so I won't write much. Here's a new song instead. One of my favorites right now!
I have come in to contact with an amazing new site - VEVO!
It's basically like pandora but with videos! You select an artist or song and it will play that song and then come up with a mix of similar songs. It is pretty awesome and I've been cranking the tunes ever since!
Here are some of my favorites - some old, some new.
Thanks to Gary's dad, I am a superfan of the NOW cds. I honestly
can't wait til each new cd comes out. Did I say superfan? I mean diehard
fan (and not ashamed!). Here's a tribute the the past NOW cds!
