LET'S LOSE WEIGHT!

I now have only 70 days left in Chicago.  How strange is that?  I'm 1/3 of the way done.  I can't say that I'm really upset by that.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Chicago and my internship but I miss Decorah.  I miss bigger kitchens and nicer showers and knowing people when I walk down the street.  And not spending everything when I go out.  And I miss Gary.  I miss having him around.  This talking on the phone or aim thing just doesn't cut it.  Good thing we will never have to do this again. ever.

The past two weeks seem to have gone by sooooo fast!  I have been busy with homework and ATHENA and art events, etc, etc.  Gary came to visit last weekend as well.  To say that it was amazing is an understatement.  Being away from him for 3 weeks was honestly the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with and I cried way too much. We didn't do much as far as exploring the city but that didn't really matter.  Saturday was a big day for me because we had our progressive dinner, which in this case meant that there were 3 apartments that had appetizers, 3 for entrees and 4 for desserts.  I had a budget of $75-100 to make an entree for 20-25 people. And let me just tell you, I dominated that budget.  We had (by estimation of course) about 40-45 people come to our room and we only spent $80.  Hells yes.  Gary helped out A LOT by making the salad, which was delicious!  It was a simple caesar salad but it was great.  I made the main dish which of course was the pastina chicken bake that Kendra and I made at Luther.  We made about 6x the original recipe and it was SOOOOOO GOOD. the entire hallway which is like a city block long smelled amazing.  And I think about 90% of the people who tried it loved it.  People now know me as the engaged girl who made the pasta.  I don't even care that they don't know my name.  They liked my food! I really loved being a part of the dinner and hope that I can do that again sometime.  Perhaps the summer housing staff would like this...

Nothing too exciting has happened this week but I did go to an art event at the Lifeline Theatre, Mrs. Caliban.  It was a realllllly good play.  It was heart wrenching even though there was a man as a green monster in it.  I recommend that everyone either read the story or go to the play :)

Oh and today I went swimming!  I haven't swam in YEARS.  literally.  But i went because running has been hurting my knee a bit.  It was so much fun but i need a workout to follow....I kinda look like an idiot....but at least i got a workout out of it ;)

Now all I need to do is all of my hw.  bummer.

L.O.V.E. it

I completely forgot to mention that I am in love!  I found this adorable, addddoooorrraaaabbbleee company that has the cutest invitations and what not.

Ink Obsession Designs - ABsolutely fabulous. Take a look!

Let's go to the Mall.........TODAY!

Today has been the laziest day EVER!

Elaine and I were social for once last night = Howl at the Moon piano bar with sweet ass deals.  We took some pictures, drank a few drinks, attempted to talk to ppl (it was soooooo loud!)  Overall it was a lot of fun but we left at around 9-9:30 to watch Sex in the City at the apartment.  Always making poor life choices, we both grabbed some more alcohol on the way.  It's not that I had too many but it was having so many without much food in my system.  Silly me didn't eat much thinking that the beer would fill me up.  Was I just born?  I'm such an idiot because today, the day I was hoping would be the most productive, has gone to complete laziness.  Even now I feel slightly hungover.  Ridic!  I did manage to read 10 pgs in a book, but that is honestly the first and last productive activity of the entire day.  What a waste.

Tonight should be fun though.  Elaine, Tabitha and her boyfriend Matt and myself  (& perhaps some others) are going to meet up at the Signature Lounge in the Hancock building to watch the fireworks and then head to the Cheesecake factory for dessert. Mmm Mmm Mmm.  I vow to take some pictures.

Now if I can only manage to put some make-up on.....

wish me luck ;)

keep yo hand off my momma, keep yo hand off my doritos.

I'm PISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSED at the state of Illinois.  Very, very upset.  More upset than I've been in a really long time.  I mean legitimately peeved.

Why? They won't let me get my alcohol.

More precisely, Jewel, at which I buy all of my Chicago groceries, would not accept my ID which clearly states that I am 22, almost 23 years old.  Yet, because I have not gotten a new ID, it still says "Under 21 until 9/13/08" on it.  My ID doesn't expire until 9/13/10 so why would I go out and get a new one?  And why given that I am OVER 21 YEARS OF AGE do they NOT accept my ID?  Who knows...

I instead stomped over to the liquor store and got me some beer.  Thank goodness.

Now I can watch the SUPER bowl with my blue moon in hand. :)

Cook Pu

So I am back.  It's been 2 weeks here in Chicago now and to tell you the truth, not much is different about my lifeI still eat loads and loads of pasta, watch all my favorite TV shows (as I am doing right this second. HIMYM is just that awesome) and act like a complete homebody.

However, there are a few things that have indeed changed.
1. I started work at ATHENA!  I am going to love this internship so much!  I didn't do much on Thursday but there is plenty for me to learn and do.  My boss also brought in her daugher of 5 months and let's just say it was the best 8 hours of my life :)  I think it is really amazing that she can bring her baby in 2 days a week and still do her job.  It's something that I hope I will be able to do when I start having a family.

2. I started AND finished my new Michael Connelly book within one day.  Yes, I spent my entire Saturday reading that book.  But to be fair, I am also supposed to read a book for ATHENA (don't worry, it's half done and WILL be done by the end of the day) and then also read for my senior paper AND 3 books for one of my CS classes.  So yes, I spent my entire Saturday reading the Scarecrow, but it was with good reason, not just because it was AWESOME.  I did however have some interestingly scary dreams though.

3. Actually that might be it...

There are also some things that I haven't quite figured out yet.  For this week, it's the damned shower!  It drives me nuts.  So this shower is a normal looking shower in all aspects.  Sure the water pressure could be a bit higher, but that's something I can deal with.  Sure, the shower curtain could go out about another foot so we could actually use the entire shower, but again, that's something I can deal with.  BUT when the water turns deathly hot or deathly cold at random times throughout my showering experience, that is NOT something I can handle!  What am I supposed to do?  The water spurts out everywhere and I have about 2 square feet to move so I am in direct line of that scalding hot/cold water.  Yeah, it's just plain annoying.

Besides having to take a shower, I hope to hit the library and Ann Taylor. Oh and finish my second book.  :) It'll be a good day.

Tootles!

I got a feelin!

Watching my roomies work out on the wii fit is probably the funniest thing I have seen in awhile.  Too bad I'm too lazy to try it myself.....I am however, not too lazy to snack on those stupid oreo's that I brought.  They need to be gone!

Gary came to move me in on Saturday and then after I crammed all my stuff into my liiitle corner of the room, I made my way to Gary's hotel.  We hit up the Hard Rock Cafe and it was aaammmaaazzzziiinnnggg as always.  We even got the new dessert thingys.  Yes, the strawberry vanilla cheesecake is TOTALLY worth the $3.49.  After dinner, being stuffed and all, we decided NOT to keep drinking (always making good decisions) and went to borders.  I was like a kid in a candy store because I 1. found a place to sit down, 2. read my favorite berenstein bears book, Too Much Junk Food, and 3. 2 little kids were sitting next to me speaking spanish but reading in english.  They were soooo cute.

Once we returned to the hotel we watched Love Happens and then I completely passed out during the Miss America Pageant.  It was no Miss USA....  Sadly, Gary had to leave on Sunday so I was back at my apt by noon.  Having him here was so great but I couldn't kiss him because I had 2 small cold sores.  It was so incredibly difficult not to kiss him and it still kills me.  I want him here so badly :(  And yeah, those stupid cold sores are almost gone because I'm awesome with the Abreva.  Damn the poor timing.

Having new roomies is bringing a whole new side of myself.  Not anything dramatic, but I am actually doing my dishes.  Like right after I use them.  Never in my life have I done this.  I just hate doing them.  Period.  But Our kitchen is so tiny that it's absolutely essential.  I don't want them to hate me :)

Besides taking a nap and watching the bachelor, that's it for tonight.  We'll soon be watching HIMYM!!!!!!!!!!!! right after Elaine comes back from her chocolate/wine run.  I'll just stick with my oreo's.

Toots!
