A Day at Pinters {2019}

If you didn't catch my last post, we attempted to go to Pinters in mid-October 2019. Sadly, it was raining so we decided not to go and had other fun instead! It was great to be in Decorah but also a little sad we couldn't go to Pinters. If you haven't checked out that post, be sure you do because we celebrated my niece's birthday too!

Thankfully, we just tried again another weekend! So up from North Liberty we drove and were FINALLY able to go to Pinters! Honestly, I didn't really remember how the weather was or how the kids behaved until I was looking through all the photos but it was still TOTALLY worth it! I'm just so thankful it wasn't raining since no one could have predicted 2020 would be as batsh!t crazy as it's been. That trip was the last time I had been to Decorah until THIS year's trip to Pinters so it's about time I get this one posted!

From the photos, it does appear that it was a cloudy day but thankfully not too cold. The kids had a great time as per usual and I do remember that Jack had quite the time trying to run up the jumping thing. Meanwhile, Gspice was over playing with some random people beating them at chess. He then came over and hung out with Owen for awhile too so made up for not helping with the craziness of the jumping thing! Some of those photos still make me laugh. Somehow, we all forgot to take family photos so that's too bad! Oh well, we can't win them all.

It is so fun to look back at these but man doesn't it feel like an entire lifetime ago?

The Almost Day at Pinters {2019}

If you've been around here for awhile, you know that we have an annual day of fun at Pinters in Decorah, Iowa. We've been going there with family before we even had any kids and there have been highs and lows between weather, moods, emotions, etc but it's always fun and I LOVE to look back at previous photos. Last year was really special to me because we had recently finalized the closing of our home in Decorah so I look forward to going back any chance I get. #ireallymissdecorah

We first attempted our 2019 trip to coincide with my niece's birthday party. We thought this would be a good way to let the kids work off some energy before the party/lots of driving time. There was a threat of rain but we thought it would stop by the time we got there. We drove the 2.25 hours up from North Liberty and sadly, the rain had not stopped yet upon our arrival. Instead, we had to figure out what to do indoors on a short notice with 6 littles. Because we don't live in Decorah anymore, it felt weird to have to come up with something indoors. We opted to take them to the bowling alley and I'd say it went relatively well. Of course, it was bright and sunny when we left to get ice cream from Sugar Bowl. Then it was off to the birthday party! It was a fun day for the kiddos but I was still sad we couldn't go to Pinters as we originally planned. As for my kiddos' behavior - it was a strugglebus to say the least...

Did we make it to Pinters in 2019???? Thankfully, yes we did but you'll need to tune in next week for those fantastic photos! Below are few photos from our "Almost Day at Pinters!"

31 Things I Am Grateful For In August 2020

One of the blogs that I've followed for awhile is Snappy Casual. I actually discovered this blog through her husband's website, Words of Williams. He is a finance guy so of course that's who I found first! But miss Snappy Casual has my heart as well. I look forward to the emails that announce a new blog post so much!  I love that I am not inundated with them since she doesn't post frequently because I find that sometimes, my mental health is struggling to allow joy in so I let it sit unread in my emails for awhile. Lately, that has been happening more often than not but when I do open the email to read the post, I feel joy in my heart.

One such post that Snappy Casual does each month is a __ Things I am Grateful For. It's simply a post with a list of things she is grateful for based on the number of days in the month. For August, that was 31. And of course, it also comes with fun family photos of her adorable crew.

The joy that I feel after reading these blog posts led me to think about showing more gratitude in my life. I am not very good at this at all - I forget to say thank you more than I care to admit. I think about that after the fact and it makes me so sad! I need to become better at that so starting a list of grateful things seems like a great way to do that!

31 Things I am Grateful for in August 2020
