Baby Jack {Two Months!}

Oh what a wonderful second month it's been!  Little PepperJack is still such a sweet baby and continues to amaze us with his cheeky grins and coos. He is our little ham just like his big brother! Jack also loves to talk so we often hear cooing and gentle squeaks and squeals throughout the day. Those and the smiles are too cute for words!

Jack started daycare on May 4, so just shy of turning two months old. It came so fast but at least I wasn't nearly as nervous or concerned about bringing him to daycare as I was with Owen! He has so far done extremely well - eats great and actually naps! We've had zero issues thus far which I am so happy about.

Likes: tracking our voices and lights, being held so he can look over our shoulder, walks with mommy, car rides, daycare and kicking!

Though this was a great month, it was also a bit trying. Right at the beginning of this second month, Gary and I started to feel super sick - sore throat, chills, fevers, the works. Well, turns out we both had strep! Luckily we did not pass this on to either child but it was a little tough to manage them before we got the antibiotics. Then a few days later, Gary started feeling those very same symptoms again. This time - mono! Seriously?? He went through two whole weeks of feeling super terrible so I acted more like a single parent so he could rest.

Despite all the sickness, I wasn't too concerned for Jack. However, a day or two after Gary was diagnosed with mono, Jack decided to eat MUCH less than normal - like 10 oz less that day and then averaged between just 20-23 oz a day after that. He was consistently taking in 25-27oz a day for 2+ weeks so I was really surprised that he had such a drop. No fevers or rashes but he did get a bit more fussy, and had more tummy troubles and constipation. SOOO I took him in to be checked. At that point, PepperJack was a beastly 11 pounds! HOLY cow, he gained over an oz a day! That alone calmed me down quite a bit. I then took him in for a weight check two weeks later just to see how his new feeding was affecting his weight - 11 pounds 9 oz. It definitely slowed down a bit but he still gained. Success. My goal for his two month appointment a week later was to reach 12 pounds....

AND WE MADE IT! He has increased his feeding up to about 24-25oz a day which helped us reach this weight. YAY!

Besides the sickness and my motherly worries, we did have some excitement. We went on tons of walks because the weather was simply gorgeous! I'm so glad for that during my last few weeks of maternity leave! Jack always fell asleep on these walks, no matter if I was using the stroller or carrier. It was also a nice way to spend time outside with both boys - Owen in the stroller and Jack in the carrier. I must have looked like a goober because that was slightly difficult. Keeping a blanket on Jack's head was a bit cumbersome :)
